French press is known mostly for its heavy body and robust taste. French press comes in all shapes and sizes. In this blog, let me explain in step by step how to make a perfect coffee in French press coffee maker
What makes french press the best
- Filters usually take out flavors and oil. Filters in drip machines absorbs oil of your coffee grounds. French press doesn’t take of any flavors and instead tiny coffee grounds to add textures and flavors.
- French press maintains the right water temperature through the process. Drip machines and other makers heat up the water very quickly and cools down very quickly.
- No impurities and complete saturation of coffee grounds are available in the french press unlike other makers
One of the best things about a French press is how easy it is to use. All you need is the coffee press, a grinder, great coffee beans, hot water, and about 4 minutes!
1) Measure Your Coffee Grounds
In order to get the best taste in the French press it is best to get the own coffee grounds. Grind your coffee in your home by using a coffee grinder. Grinding your coffee yourself, help you to get the best flavor out of your coffee. The main reason for using a coffee grinder is to make sure your beans are coarse. If your grind is too fine, it will get through the filter in the press and your coffee may be gritty, so dialing in the grind size is key. What you measure out depends largely on the size of your coffee press and the amount of coffee you want.
2) Heat water and prime the French press
Heat your water up to a boiling temperature (about 200 degrees) and leave it for 30 seconds. Pour a bit of hot water in to the carafe and swirl it for around 30 seconds. This heats the carafe up, which will help things brew at the right temperature. Discard the hot water once your press is warmed.
3) Add coffee grounds and hot water
Add the coffee grounds which are grinded in the coffee grinder in to preheated French press and then add the correct ratio of hot water afterwards, all In one pour (For the French press, use 2 Tbsp per 6 oz of water).
4) Put the lid on and Immerse
Place the lid on start the press and will keep the heat as the coffee brews. and press down until the coffee is fully submerged about a half-inch under the water. Set your timer and wait for around 4 minutes.
5) Filter
After 4 minutes, it's time to put the press. On a stable surface, press the plunger down to get all those loose coffee grounds to the bottom, leaving a delicious pot of coffee up top.
6) Decant, Serve and Enjoy
Its time to serve and drink your coffee. If you are not going to drink right away. Please take out the coffee out of the French press and decant it into a container because the longer your coffee is in a press it will continue to immerse the grounds at the bottom, which leads to over-extraction and a bitter tasting brew.
